The directors and leadership
team of NSUWP work year round with teacher-consultants to provide high quality professional development
to service area schools and partner districts. NSUWP offers school districts
a variety of professional development workshop series for their teachers
models for school and district-wide Writing across the Curriculum, Writing to Learn, and Literacy initiatives
partnerships for co-resourcing and shared research
Current partnerships include:
Glenmora High School for a new partnership for "exploring literacy curriculum for English Language Learners and establishing content area literacy strategies effective for all learners." Dan Berg is the NSUWP ELL Team Leader.
2011-2012 K-16 Partnership - Pairing University and K-12 educators to explore the question of "What Does 'College-Ready' Writing, Reading, Thinking Look Like?" Partners have agreed to examine the national language and criteria for "college-ready" and "work-ready" skills-- especially as it relates to the new Common Core State Standards. They will share classroom strategies, activities, and resources they are using to help their students meet this criteria and collect them to share with the whole group. NSUWP will preserve what is learned to share with our service-area school districts (beginning Spring/Summer 2012). Partners will also be sharing their work at the 2012 Literacy Lagniappe Conference (July 28, 2012).
Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC) Partners - University and K-12 educators who are working together to create content area modules of instruction using the Literacy Design collaborative framework to meet Common Core State Standards:
Modules for social studies, ELA, science, and math will be developed and field-tested the 2011-2012 school year. Look for this work to be shared as well at the 2012 Literacy Lagniappe Conference, as well as being available to schools and school districts the 2012-2013 school year.
