North-Central Louisiana Writing Region presents the 2012 Scholastic Writing Awards Contest Affiliate of the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers
What do Truman Capote, Frances Farmer, John Lithgow, Joyce Maynard, Bernard Malamud, Joyce Carol Oates, Sylvia Plath, and Robert Redford have in common? They received Scholastic Contest Awards as teenagers for their creative work! Administrators and teachers:

Submission guidelines and contest entry forms (forms now available online; North-Central Louisiana Writing Region entries due Friday, January 6, 2012);
Virtual galleries of past award-winning art and writing;
Information about winners' exhibitions, publications, and scholarships.
North-Central Louisiana Region winnersand their teachers will be honored at the Regional Celebration February 25, 2012 in the Friedman Student Union Ballroom on NSU Campus, Natchitoches, LA. Details of the regional contest and awards ceremony will be available online at www.nsuwp.org.
Regional student winners will receive:
Gold Key, Silver Key, or Honorable Mention awards and certificates.
All regional winners will be published online by NSU Writing Project with listings by students' names, teachers' names, and recognition of students' schools.
Regional Gold Key winners' work will be judged for national awards and scholarships, with national winners honored during Scholastic's National Ceremony in New York and published in The Best Teen Writing of 2012.
